ARC Glazing were selected to install a combination of modern architectural glazing for this beautiful oak barn conversion.
The homeowner’s objective for this project was to enhance the connection between the interior and exterior living spaces, maximising light into the property and capturing its magnificent views. Installation of the spectacular double height elevation of glazing perfectly captures this aim, combining structural gable end windows with slimline sliding doors below.
ARC slimline sliding pocket doors were installed on the ground floor, completely transforming the kitchen and living area into an open and airy interior space connected to the expansive property views. These slim framed sliding doors flaunt a frameless finish with the outer frames concealed within the walls and a completely flush threshold, presenting a seamless indoor-outdoor connection and clear, uninterrupted views of the countryside.
Above the sliding door façade, SMART Alitherm 600 windows were installed for the gable end, offering spectacular views of the surrounding countryside and flooding the interior with natural light throughout the day. Finished in triple glazing to achieve an impressive U-value of 1.4, these windows deliver outstanding energy performance as well as excellent versatility and durability.
With the option of either a square or chamfered bead, the Alitherm 600 is designed with versatility, allowing it to be used in both traditional and contemporary projects. Combining this profile with an oak frame finish, the team perfectly encapsulated a design of modern architectural glazing sensitive to its traditional rural aesthetic, yet stylish and bold in style.
Colour matched aluminium pressings were used to connect and enclose these two elements of architectural glazing. Finished in the same RAL colour delivers a seamless transition across the overall glass elevation design and continues the elegant blend between the traditional oak beams and modern anthracite grey exterior.
Working closely with the homeowners, we were delighted to create a truly stunning elevation of glazing architecture, complementing the traditional aesthetic with a contemporary and stylish design. The project was a great success and we are we are delighted to have been a part of it.
