The team were incredibly proud to work on this beautifully converted farmhouse nestled in the heart of the Kent countryside, showcasing an exceptional profile of high-spec architectural glazing products.
To the chalet-type oak timber gable end structure, SMART Visofold 1000 bifold doors were installed on the ground floor in a 4 pane configuration with an additional 2 pane bifold window above the kitchen worktop. The combination of these stunning products creates a seamless and immersive indoor-outdoor living experience, flooding the kitchen and living area with natural light and offering uninterrupted views of the beautiful surrounding garden. The addition of the bifold window was an innovative solution formed from the homeowners visit to our showroom.
Above these two glazing elements, SMART Visofold 1000 double doors were installed, serving a wonderful transition from the master bedroom to the outdoor balcony. The installation of two additional glass panes to either side amplifies the amount of natural light entering the property and maximises the space and aesthetic sightlines on offer. The combination of aluminium framing, oak timber and the exposed traditional steel beams forms a remarkable contrast in materials and design.
For the dormer windows, SMART Slide 2000 windows were selected. Designed typically for sliding patio doors, its installation as windows showcases the level of innovation of our team, working closely with the homeowners to further expand elements of uniqueness and overall modernity of the property. These windows fully utilise the large aperture available, enhancing the amount of natural light to create bright and airy spaces.
One of the standout product features we installed was the bespoke ARC Slimline Sliding door. Designed and custom built with our partner supplier, this large pane glass door draws increased natural light into the elevated pitched ceiling of the dining area, whilst affording immersive views of the beautiful surrounding countryside with its flush slimline design.
To ensure maximum comfort and energy efficiency, solar-controlled glass was used in the bifold doors and sliding door. Reducing heat gain and UV glare, this performance feature is a great addition in regulating temperature in the property throughout the different seasons.
For the window system, we used a combination of SMART Ecofutural tilt n turn windows and SMART Alitherm 600 windows with a square bead and sash to complement different design and functionality features. The tilt n turn option provides an excellent solution for ventilation, the Alitherm 600 continues to amplify a more contemporary, modern touch to the property. Both featuring SMART’s polyamide thermal break technology, the windows are highly energy efficient with significantly reduced thermal transmittance and low overall U values.
The homeowners opted for a RAL 9005 Black matt finish on all our products. This finish offers enhanced durability, ease of maintenance, and a stylish and modern aesthetic appeal, without disturbing the traditional beauty of the barn and its surrounding countryside.
