Great to collaborate on another stunning project with one of our building partners, Fox Construction Ltd. Forming a strong relationship from previous developments, ARC Glazing were selected to supply and install a sliding door for this beautiful outhouse renovation.
After meeting with the homeowners and the team at Fox Construction, we commenced work on the brief of maximising light into the property with style, functionality and versatility. With the abundance of space captured from the barn’s high pitched roof structure, the homeowners were keen to explore a fully enclosed glazing solution to the east side of the property.
Selected for its high functionality and contemporary styling, the SMART Visoglide Plus sliding door with a slim 35mm interlock was installed. Featuring an extended polyamide thermal break to achieve a lower U-value of 1.6 and enhance energy efficiency, the Visoglide Plus is a perfect addition to add style and function to any property, whilst delivering excellent thermal performance.
The slim 35mm interlock profile, rather than its 83mm mullion option, was used to achieve a design that subtly combines modern and traditional elements, providing a stunning contrast between contemporary design and the oak style frame without compromising on the enhanced performance values of modern glazing.
A query that arose during the early phase of the project was the extent in which the oak beams would be integrated into the design, either utilising the existing beam structure as supports for the glazing or constructing a standalone piece of glazing either side of the beams. With experience in other previous projects, the team are confident and proficient in both structural designs. For this project, the homeowner’s vision was to capture the grand effect of the oak beams as standalone, fully exposed features. Installing the sliding door behind the beams adds a subtle touch of modernity and sophistication, whilst keeping the original character of the house undisturbed.
Finished in a RAL7016 Anthracite Grey Matt, this elegant contrast of traditional and modern design is further lifted, creating a stylish style that honours its oak frame heritage.
